Tony Benger Landscaping won this major planting and maintenance contract, following the multi-million pound stabilisation and reconstruction programme for the cliffs and sea front area in the Dorset town of Lyme Regis. Working with the client, West Dorset District Council, main contractors Carillion and landscape architects Environs Partnership, soft landscaping to Lister and Langmore Gardens took place over a two year period.
During this time 26 individual landscape drawings were issued, involving several re-designs and upgrades to the public gardens and domestic properties involved in the project. The planting scheme for this steep and exposed landscape overlooking the seafront included grasses, salt tolerant, sub tropical and rare plants as well as native species. More than 40,000 shrubs, perennials and trees were planted along with nearly 9,500 square metres of turf.
This project was entered into the BALI National Landscape Awards and achieved a category Principle Award. The scheme also received recognition with a Landscape Institute Award.
